AVOCA - Join Us And Celebrate Our Progress. Help Shape Avoca’s Future.
What does Avoca look like through a visitor’s eyes? First Impressions helps communities answer that question by gathering outside perspectives on local attractions, amenities and the visitor experience—highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement. Avoca was one of just five Iowa communities selected to participate in the 2026 program.
Over the past six months, visitors have explored Avoca and provided feedback. On Wednesday, October 14, at 6 p.m., experts from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Travel Iowa will share those findings at the Avoca Veterans Community Center and invite participants to discuss what matters most for Avoca’s future.
The program follows the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the Avoca Veterans Community Center and The Post Legion Pub, bringing together an opportunity to celebrate our progress and help shape our next chapter.
Evening schedule:
5 p.m. — Grand Opening Welcome
5:15 p.m. — Ribbon Cutting
5:30 p.m. — Dinner provided by Avoca Masons and Jr. Federated for First Impressions participants
6 p.m. — First Impressions Community Program and Discussion
We enthusiastically encourage community leaders, civic groups, board and committee members, city and county officials, residents, businesses and youth to participate at the 6 p.m. program. Bring your thoughts, ideas and hopes for Avoca—your voice will help guide our community’s priorities.
